PDO & COG THREADS

PDO Mono & Cog Threads are a fantastic skin tightening treatment, whereby very fine Polydioxanone threads are inserted under the skin to provide a lifting effect, restore tightness and smooth out lines and wrinkles.

The threads cause micro-injuries that stimulate collagen production & tissue contraction,. The thread holds the tissue in place whilst it heals in the skin, the tension caused by the thread triggers collagen growth which also tightens the skin. After 6-9 months when the threads dissolve, the natural collagen formed will provide a lasting lifting effect for the next 2 years. We offer both PDO Mono Threads & PDO Cog Threads in Clinic

PDO Mono Threads - (Price from £60)

PDO Threads are the advanced secret to facial rejuvenation – inducing the production of collagen and creating a tightening effect for 6 to 12 months after your procedure. The threads become a support structure for your face, allowing natural collagen production to take place!

This treatment is a safe, non-surgical solution for tightening and thickening your skin. Mono Threads provide an improvement of fine lines and wrinkles by gradually stimulating natural collagen production.

There is minimal recovery time with the mono threads, there is a subtle instant result however, the real results are not evident for several months as the collagen & elastin is stimulated. Collagen production continues over the next few years, meaning your skin will be plumper and firmer for that time. Monos can be used anywhere on the face & body- great for tightening sagging skin after pregnancy & weight loss.

Common treatment areas are:

  • Sagging Jowls

  • Eyes

  • Cheeks (loss of volume)

  • Neck

  • Back of arms

  • Lower stomach

Basically anywhere you feel you would benefit from tighter skin!

Mono threads are a type of PDO filament which can be inserted into the skin in a mesh-like pattern, to help increase skin tightness. The procedure is known for being minimally invasive. The procedure works by inducing collagen production through the filament inserted into the skin. Mono threads can be used to improve the texture/quality of skin in troublesome regions such as lower cheeks & perioral regions that can become bulky with dermal filler treatments, again by stimulating the body’s own collagen production leading to continued improvement for months after the treatment itself has been undertaken. We can also achieve tightening of tissues under the chin- the typical ‘turkey neck’ or loose ‘double chin’ again using mono-threads by stimulating the body’s own collagen.

Once inserted into the skin, the threads activate collagen synthesis to gradually tighten & rejuvenate the skin. This provides the skin with a tighter feel & appearance, also more of a youthful look. In clinic we offer a variety of Mono threads to treat different areas of the face & body.. for example, thicker threads are used to treat Nasolabial folds to help soften & "fill the fold". We also have specially designed threads to treat the Tear Trough Eye area to ensure minimal discomfort and minimal bruising. Mel, Aesthetic Practitioner will advise on which PDO Thread she feels will benefit & treat your concerns on your consultation.

PDO Mono Threads - Common Questions

Is It Painful?

Clients will experience minimal discomfort during their procedure as the area is numbed with a very effective cream prior to treatment. Some clients may experience slight tenderness in the treated area for a couple of hours following their appointment, ice can be applied to help reduce any swelling.

Is There Any Downtime?

There is little downtime with Mono Threads, clients are advised to minimise movement in the treated area for a couple of weeks to allow the skin to respond to the thread. Bruising is very common, you will receive pre & post care advise to help minimise bruising

No hot saunas, spas or intense exercise for a few weeks – for the same reason as above plus, minimising the chance of infection.

Is Everyone Suitable For Mono Threads?

Contraindications for treatment include:

  • Autoimmune disease

  • Pregnancy

  • Active infections or illness

  • Keloid scarring

Are These Threads Made To Lift?

These threads, by design, are not made to lift.  They have no ‘barbs’ to hold on to or anchor tissue, they are smooth and are designed to be left in the skin until they dissolve (the filament is excreted over time through your kidneys) The tightening of the skin will lead to a slight lift, but lifting is not the purpose of mono threads; The PDO Cog Thread treatment is available  in Clinic to lift.

How Many Mono Threads Are Used In A Treatment?

You need to have an adequate amount for the area being treated.  Ideally the mono threads need to create a “mesh” in order to see real results.  The purpose of the treatment is to create a ‘sheet’ of collagen and therefore the cross hatching of threads in each area is required. The cost of the treatment is dependant on area & how many threads are required, which is why treatment cost is P.O.C.

Usually an eye treatment takes a minimum of 10 per eye ( we have specialist eye threads to treat the tear trough area for minimal bruising & discomfort). The lower face can take 30 threads per side & a full face treatment can take up to 100 threads!

Will I See Much Difference Straight Away?

When treating with mono threads, the threads are placed into the skin in order to create new collagen & elastin which makes up the extracellular matrix of the skin. There is an initial improvement as the tissue has been strengthened with the thread but the real results are not evident for 8-12 weeks

Why Does It Take So Long To See Results?

Collagen is a protein that gives your skin its elasticity & firmness. (it is also present in other body tissues such as blood vessels, muscles, bones.). When we are young we produce lots of collagen, sufficient to keep our skin soft & supple, our joints free from creaking & pain when we get up after sitting for long periods etc. Sagging & wrinkling of the skin also occurs when we have less collagen & also after sun exposure. The collagen created can be damaged too - depletion of collagenesis (Collagen production) of the correct kind leads to leather type skin.

Studies show that collagenesis can be boosted several ways for those whom are producing less or damaged collagen fibres

  • Good nutrition with collagen dense foods

  • Ablative lasers – removing the damaged cells producing damaged collagen.(down time required)

  • Sunscreen – not so much to boost collagen production but to prevent photodamage of existing collagen & elastin fibres

  • LED light therapy

  • RF

  • Microneedling

  • Mono threads

  • Mesotherapy

New collagen formation takes about 12 weeks , this is why we can start to see results at about 8 weeks but real results will be more visible at 12 weeks.  This collagen production will continue for about 2-3 years.

How Often Do I Need To Re-Do My Mono Threads?

Once you have seen a result, it will last approximately 12 months as the collagen production has been stimulated. Treatment can be repeated to maintain results every 8-12 months

Does Having A Thread Procedure Mean I Don’t Need Injectable Treatments?

No, these treatments target different parts of the anatomy. PDO Mono Threads work really well with other Aesthetic treatments, complimenting & enhancing their results.

PDO COG Lifting Threads.JPEG
PDO Cog Thread Lift Jaw Treatment.JPEG

PDO Cog Threads are used to lift your face without having a surgical face lift. The treatment is known as a Thread Lift. If you have mild to moderate sagging skin around your neck, cheeks and jowls then a PDO Thread Lift may be ideal for you. PDO Cog Threads are designed to lift and tighten skin where inserted. PDO (polydioxanone) is a bioabsorbable structure which is absorbed after promoting collagen by stimulating fibroblasts in the skin. A PDO Thread Lift leaves the face firmer, tighter, and more youthful in appearance, results are immediate and can be seen for 6 to 18 months.

Why Choose A PDO Cog Thread Lifting Treatment?

Thread lifts help stimulate collagen production, resulting in more youthful-looking skin. In addition, the threads pulls your face taut, eliminating wrinkles and giving you an overall smoother appearance.

The effects of PDO thread insertion is a safe and simple non-surgical face lift to reverse the effects of ageing, skin tightening and lifting, improved quality of skin and promote wrinkle reduction. As we age, the effects of gravity become more noticeable on our faces. The supporting tissue weakens and starts to sag, facial fat is lost, the jawline that used to be firm and tight jowls at the edges of the mouth that drift down towards the chin, and the lower face and neck sags. This sagging or dropping action of the tissue is referred to by doctors as ptosis (pronounced toe-sis) and we can start to see this naturally-occurring-process beginning in our 30’s!!

Traditionally, this tendency for one’s face to start to go ‘south’ would lead most people to a cosmetic surgeon in search of a facelift; however, PDO Cog Threads offer a less invasive procedure which can lift, contour & suspend the sagging tissues of the face & neck; in those people who need only little to moderate rejuvenation.

What Is Thread Lifting?

Thread lifting is a safe and effective technique which allows the repositioning of sagging skin tissue and encouraging it to become tighter. These threads work in two very effective ways; the first is that the threads have small barbs or tiny cones that work to engage the tissues & pull (& hold) in an upward direction, the second way these threads work to rejuvenate your facial tissues is by stimulating the body’s own production of collagen resulting in a tighter, uplifted profile. Both of these aspects result in continued improvement in rejuvenation for up to a year after the procedure. This re-defines the facial contours and introduces new collagen.

PDO COG Threads Lifting Treatment - Common Questions

What Is A COG Thread Lift?

A Thread Lift is a non-surgical treatment , which uses a fine specialised thread to pull your skin tighter to lift and smooth the skin on your face, neck or jowls. This revolutionary treatment offers you the results of a surgical facelift without the pain, recovery time or risks associated with surgery.

How Does It Work?

During the procedure, the ‘threads’ are inserted under the surface of the skin into the sub-dermis. These tiny threads have tiny barbs which attach & anchor to the skin, keeping it in place as the threads are lifted to create a smoother & tighter appearance.

Made from PDO (Polydioxanone), the threads also stimulate a collagen production response over time to add further firmness.

Lifting and tightening your face gives the skin back its strength and elasticity and provides you with a noticeably younger-looking appearance.

Why Choose A COG Thread Lift?

A Thread Lift isn’t just any thread lift. PDO Cog Threads, with barbs are the only Thread Lift that provides an immediate physical lifting effect, as well as a biological lift by stimulating the natural production of new collagen.

The Cog threads used in Clinic are made from a special substance called PDO (polydioxanone). This substance has been used in the medical field for many years in suture thread, orthopedics, plastic surgery, drug delivery, cardiovascular applications, and tissue engineering.  It’s highly compatible with the body making negative reactions or allergy unlikely.

Polydioxanone helps to stimulate the body’s natural collagen production processes, giving the skin back its strength and elasticity.

The Thread biodegrade over time a period of 12-18 months, when a new treatment may be needed.

This unique combination of mechanical lifting and cellular regeneration is what makes the PDO Thread Lift so powerful, giving people immediately noticeable results and long-lasting regeneration.

What Areas Can Be Treated With A Thread Lift?

PDO COG threads can tighten the skin on numerous parts of the face and body including the:

  • Upper and lower cheeks

  • Nasolabial Folds

PDO Mono & COG Thread Lifting Aftercare Advise

What Should I NOT Do After A Thread Lifting Treatment?

To ensure the best results, there are several things you must avoid after a PDO Cog Thread Lift. These include sleeping on your stomach or side, wearing makeup, drinking alcohol, making extreme facial expressions & receiving facials or facial massages.

Avoid Animated Expressions

Do Not open the mouth too wide for 3-4 weeks following your treatment. Avoid dental treatment for 2 weeks after a Cog Thread lifting procedure.

Avoid Sleeping On Your Side Or Stomach

One of the worst things you can do after a thread lift is to apply an excessive amount of pressure to the treated area. If you sleep on your stomach or side within the first five nights post-treatment, you may experience swelling, discomfort, bruising, or less-than-optimal results.

If you usually sleep on your side or stomach or toss and turn throughout the night, practice sleeping on your back for a few weeks before your treatment. If you still roll over after finding a comfortable position on your back, sleep in a recliner to reduce the risk of you sleeping on your side after treatment.

No Makeup For 12-24 hours

There are several reasons why you should avoid wearing makeup in the first 12 hours after your treatment. Primarily, your skin is sensitive in the first several hours after treatment. Even cosmetics that usually cause you only minor skin irritation should be avoided.

Secondarily, it’s important that your skin is able to breathe during the first 12 hours after treatment. Cosmetics can suffocate your skin. Finally, most women apply a significant amount of pressure on their skin while removing their makeup. To reduce the risk of applying too much pressure to your face, it’s best to just not wear makeup for the first 12 hours after treatment.

Avoid Facials or Facial Massages

Facial massages & facials should be avoided for the first 10 days after treatment. Facial massages should be avoided to minimise the risk of excessive pressure being applied to the treatment area. This reduces the risk of swelling, bruising & the threads being forced out of place accidentally.

Facials should be avoided for the same reasons that wearing makeup should be avoided. Facials may involve excessive amounts of pressure applied to the treatment area. Some facials also involve the use of strong chemicals that can irritate the skin during the period of time after your treatment that your skin is sensitive.

Avoid Becoming Overheated

After a PDO thread lift you should avoid applying too much pressure to your face and elevating your blood pressure. While you may not realize it, prolong heat exposure elevates your blood pressure significantly.

To keep your blood pressure within a normal range, avoid excessive heat exposure. To accomplish this, take a lukewarm bath rather than a hot shower and avoid tanning beds, dry saunas, steam rooms, steaming hot soup, and sunbathing. Staying hydrated will also help you to keep cool and maintain normal blood pressure.

Avoid Alcohol

You should avoid drinking alcohol for the first two weeks after your thread lift for a couple of reasons. First, alcohol is a diuretic, meaning it will flush out an excessive amount of water and essential nutrients that are vital for your skin health. Second, alcohol consumption increases your blood pressure significantly & can contribute to bruising.

No Smoking

Unfortunately, smoking is another common activity that elevates blood pressure. Dozens of the chemical compounds in cigarette smoke, including nicotine, constrict your blood vessels. This means, among other things, that nutrients cannot flow through your bloodstream to your skin efficiently.

It’s important to note that any product containing nicotine will elevate your blood pressure. For example, smoking cessation tools, such as nicotine patches and nicotine gum must also be avoided.

Avoid Vigorous Exercise

The final most common activity that elevates blood pressure is vigorous exercise. Moderate exercise, such as walking, jogging, and swimming at a leisurely pace is fine. However, if your workout is so intense that you can’t sing or carry a conversation, it is too vigorous and you are placing your heart under undue strain.

Do Not Touch The Area For 24-48 Hours

To avoid the risk of infection do not touch the injection sites for 24-48 hours.

Keep The Dressings In Place For Up To 2 Weeks

Following your treatment Mel will apply a dressing tape over the entry points, these are to help & enhance the treatment results. It is recommended these tapes are left in place for up to 2 weeks. Full aftercare advise will be given during your consultation & once again when your procedure is complete.

Apply SPF 30+ On A Daily Basis

WHAT ARE THE FOXY EYES?

Foxy eyes are considered the latest trend in cosmetic procedures. It is performed without surgery & takes up to 60 minutes for a full consultation & the procedure.

Foxy Eyes treatment can elongate the eyes by lifting the brows & opening the upper eyelid, which automatically makes the eyes flattering with or without makeup. Additionally, it creates an effect of openness & focus on the eyes that no other treatment does.

One of the most attractive features of Bella Hadid & Kendall Jenner are the almond-shaped eyes. This specific look has a special name known as ‘Foxy’ or ‘Catty’ eyes.

What Does The Foxy Eye Lift Procedure Involve?

  • This non-invasive procedure works by inserting A PDO Cog thread discretely under the surface of the skin using a blunt cannula. The thread is a dissolvable stitch containing small barbs, it is then tightened & the barbs of the thread hook under the skin to lift the area.

  • The threads are then pulled to lift & stretch the outer corners of the upper eyelid & lift the brow. The type of thread used in Clinic is a premium thread to ensure optimum results.

  • You are awake throughout and the procedure takes no more than 30 minutes (60 minutes with consultation)

  • It is not painful as the area is injected with local anaesthetic before the procedure.

  • Results are instant & recovery time is several days

Why Have A Foxy Eye Lift?

As an inexpensive and non-invasive procedure, this eyes’ lifting treatment has been especially popular, after several celebrities’ eyes shape.

There are several benefits in this procedure, such as:

  • Collagen Restoration of skin tissues

  • Dissolvable & invisible threads

  • Rapid Process with no recovery period

  • Instant result

  • Easy healing without scars

  • Long- lasting results

How Does A Foxy Eye Lift Work?

A Foxy Eye Lift works in two ways;

  • Firstly, the PDO Cog Threads mechanically lifts the skin, which gives an immediate lifted appearance to the face – acting as a non-surgical brow lift (this procedure can also soften Nasolabial Folds, as seen in the picture above)

  • Secondly, over the following months, the small barbs on the threads (which are anchored deep in your skin) stimulate the body’s collagen production, creating a lifted appearance that’s completely natural.

  • To enhance the lifting of the brow area and lengthen the effects of the Foxy Eye Lift (Eyebrow Thread Lift) - Botox can be injected above the eyebrows on the day of treatment for an added cost (Anti Wrinkle Injections - Brow Lift)

Cog Thread Lift For Brows - (Price from £300)

Cog Thread Lift (Eyes) is a non-surgical brow lift where threads are used in this area for three different reasons:

  • To change the shape of the brow often referred to as fox brows. This creates a wide eyed, lifted fox eye look keeping with the fox eye trend, which is not related to the ageing process.

  • To create a brow lift – e.g lift the brow to treat hooded lids or heavy eyebrows which often are caused by ageing – treatment for this indication is suitable from aged 30 onwards

  • To correct asymmetry, where a thread is placed in one brow to lift one brow to create symmetry with the other

  • Over time the threads simply naturally dissolve in your skin, the same way that any dissolvable stitch would.

Foxy Eye Lift & Cog Thread Lifts Common Questions

How Long Will A Foxy Eye / Brow Lift Last?

Unlike Thread Lifts elsewhere on the face, which often last 18-24 months, the results from a fox eye lift tend to last less time, around 6 -12 months. After which point the procedure can be repeated.

Where On The Face Can I Have A COG Thread Lift?

  • Thread lift eyes area/fox eye lift/ Thread brow lift

  • Lift cheeks to reduce sagging & soften Nasolabial folds

  • Lift middle and lower face to reduce folds / pouches of sagging tissue beside mouth

  • Lift jowls – improving jawline definition

  • Lift neck to improve a saggy neck area under chin & jaw

What Age Should I Have A Foxy Eye Thread Lift?

There are two different age groups, depending on the reason for treatment:

  • To change the shape of the brow (e.g give a Foxy Eye look/Fox Brow) which is suitable at any age over 18 and is common for women in their 20’s and 30s. This is not related to the ageing process.

Or

  • To create a brow lift – e.g lift the brow to treat hooded lids or heavy eyebrows which often are caused by ageing – treatment for this indication is suitable from aged 30 onwards, the most common age groups who present for brow lift for this reason are in their 40’s and 50’s.

Does A Foxy Eye/ Cog Thread Lift Hurt?

No – before the thread lift procedure begins, the area to be treated will be injected with a local anaesthetic to numb the treatment area & prevent pain.

What Results Can I Expect From A Foxy Eye Lift?

The lifting effect from the Foxy Eye Lift will be visible immediately & will last approximately 6-12 months, after which point it can be repeated.

What Are The Side Effects Of A COG Thread Lift?

Some clients notice some bruising and swelling immediately after their procedure. Other common side effects visible for the first days are puckering of the skin and dimples. We generally advise 2-3 days of work following a Foxy Eye Lift / Brow Thread Lift treatment as the downtime is not as significant as it is for Thread Lift elsewhere on face.

What Should I Do After My COG Thread Lift Treatment?

You will be provided with full aftercare instructions which you will have to follow after your procedure to ensure optimum results & minimise the risk of infection. This includes avoiding exercise for 7 days and sleeping on your back for 5 nights. You are likely to have obvious marks on the face for 2-3 days after the treatment so we advise taking a few days off work & avoid social activities following this treatment.

Can I Repeat My Foxy Eye Lift / Brow Lifting Treatment?

Yes, there is no limit to how many times your fox eye lift treatment can be repeated.

Can I Combine The Foxy Eye Lift With Other Treatments?

Yes, the Foxy Eye Lift works really well with a  Botox Brow Lift which can be done 2 weeks later  (this is an additional cost). It is also possible to have Foxy Eye Lift treatment with threads elsewhere on the face on the same day as many clients also wish to lift cheeks or jowls at the same time.

FOXY EYE LIFT - (Price from £300)

The Foxy Eye Lift, also known as the Fox Eye Thread Lift, is a treatment that lifts the edges of the brows using soft threads. This treatment is used to recreate the look of a surgical fox eye lift without the need for surgery. This treatment can elongate the eyes, lift the brows and open the upper eyelid, which not only is flattering with or without makeup but also creates an openness and focus on the eyes that few other treatments do.

The fox eye thread lift procedure can be used as a subtle solution for other eye concerns such as a heavy brow, asymmetry and hooded lids. For example one brow only can be lifted to correct symmetry, and as a tool to lift hooded, heavy eyelids which can develop with age to create a more ‘awake’ and refreshed eye area.
